Yesterday I took my son out to play some soccer and shoot some video of him. When I get there, the battery for my Samsung Miniket Digital Camcorder is dead. I think this is strange, as I'd plugged it in to charge the batteryan hour before we left. When we get home, I plug it in...no little light comes on. Try different outlets, jiggle the cord, nothing. No power whatsoever. Anger sets in. The camcorder hadn't been dropped or damaged in any way. Worked 2 days earlier, now it doesn't. I'm predicting going to an A/S center, handing over the camcorder, and being told I'll have it back in 2 weeks (it took that long for me to get a watch strap replaced...but that's another story...).

So, the wife and I are at the Samsung Service center shortly after 10 this morning. Go to the desk, and are told someone will check it out and get back to us in 10 minutes or so. No problem. Shortly, a young man comes out and VERY politely explains to my wife that one of the circuit boards has died, and that this is very common during the summer months with the humid conditions. He even says something to the effect of, "I'm sure this camcorder is important to you and no doubt you'll want it back as soon as possible." He then tells us it'll be ready within 2 days, if not sooner. I left the A/S center a very happy man around 10:30 am.

By the time my wife got home 15 minutes later (I dropped her off on my way to the gym), the same guy called to say that he'd found the necessary part near by and that he was having it sent by quick service. Our camera would be ready in an hour! I call her after the gym, we go out for lunch, and then pick of the camcorder by 1:30 pm, a mere 3 hours after we dropped it off. Incredible....

As I said, I was anticipating a much longer turnaround time. I was overjoyed when I picked up my 'fully-functional' camcorder 3 hours later. Samsung A/S gets '2 big thumbs up' from me. Hopefully I won't have any more problems, but if I do, I know where I'm going!

Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

I was just telling my wife how much I miss those samsung service centers. I wish we had something like that in America. Nada, nothing...my sony digi cam had an ejection problem last year. I looked into sending it to the sony service center here in the states. The minimum $$ amount you have to pay is 250 dollars. We went to Korea for 2 weeks and I took it to the sony service center...40 bucks. digi cam works great. I love Korea.

I bought a Sony D-ca. I got drunk and dropped it down some rocks and again several times on the beach and filled it with sand. It stopped working. It was my fault, obviously, not Sony's. I took it to my local service center totally prepared to pay to have it fixed. They told me they'd fix it for free. Never showed a receipt or registered it or anything (I coulda picked it out the trash for all they knew). Great service =)
