Hey everyone,

I was wondering if anyone has lived or worked in Namyungju. How is it out there; entertainment, places to go, variety of people, good amont of foriegners living there? Proximity to Seoul and airpoets? The offer sounds great and I have an interview tonight to speak with a teacher. I have a couple of questions to ask her, so I'm ready for that part. But any help about the city would be great.

Thanks a lot of everyone!

thank you for the comment. are there any other comments out there about the area. I just would like to be near resturants, movie theaters, bars, a little bit of night life. does anyone know the surrounding citites aside from Seoul which is 40 minutes away from what I understand.

also i had my interview tonight with a teacher from there. everything sounds really good here. i will be speaking with the other foreign teacher tomorrow night to get her perspective.

i'll list a few of the things they are offering and perhaps make a new post as well:

3-bedroom apt. (wasn't to clear if she meant 3 bedrooms AND living room, etc. etc. but she did say there was a bedroom and study room and the current teacher has a guest room

all the amenities

2.0+ won

settlement fee (300,000)

medical ins.

vacation time

9-2 teaching hours; except mon and tues 3-4:30 for special class

I got this offer through a recruiter and I need to ask her about airfare(it's offered but not sure if reimbursement or pre-paid; hoping for the latter)

Like I mentioned earlier, I am speaking with the Canadian teacher tomorrow. I would like to exchange emails and I hope she can send me pictures of the school and apt and even the city.

Anyway,

rambling on...anyone have any suggestions and information on the city itself. much more help appreciated. I love detail. Thanks a million!

I've never been there but I just updated information on the place a few days ago:

http://wiki.galbijim.com/Namyangju

From what I can tell from the map it looks like anywhere technically in the city but right next to Seoul would be okay, but it's pretty big and if you have a place way up to the north or east then it would probably be pretty boring. The city has a Mongolian village in it which probably shows how much open space there is.

Just move the cows out of the way and you can get a good seat on the hayride. Watch out for the chickens though, they have an attitude.
