Hey guys. I really want to buy a pug puppy (or pug mix). I assumed it would be easy, since it's a chinese breed and we're so close to China, but I've never seen any around my area. Just freaken poodles and yorkies.

I looked on the internet and getting them shipped from the states is hella expensive.

Anyone know a pug breeder?

Why don't you just adopt this lil guy.... He's awfully cute.... Kinda puggish...

I rescued him on Thursday he was about to run on to the road. He doesn't belong to anyone as far as I know. I asked all the shopkeepers and restaurant owners in the area and they all said he had no home. I'm going overseas on holiday next Staurday for three weeks. I have already fallen in love with him but realistically I'm not home enough to have a dog. I definintely won't be putting him back on the street as my co-workers suggested but I'm hoping there is someone who can give him a better home than I can. Someone who has a bit more time available etc. Please pm me asap. Thanks.

there's a cute pug puppy in the window of a pet shop near my house. i wouldn't trust a puppy from a pet shop, though. might have come from a puppy mill or have problems, and pugs can have quite a few genetic problems.

it just tears me up inside that i can't help that pug.

but i second that other idea. pugs will always be my first choice, but Louie is heart-meltingly cute.

I'd advise against getting one shipped from the states. Pugs are notoriously not travel-friendly because of their short snouts. It can be hard for them to breathe on the plane, especially in the hot summer months.

Find an English-speaking vet. There are breeders in Korea, and most vets should be able to help you locate one, or at least point you in the right direction. I talked to a vet about possibly tracking down some dog breeders, and he knew of quite a few.

Currently there is a travel embargo on short nosed dogs, and some breeds of cats, on most airlines in the U.S. This is because they are not able to withstand the stress of the trip, as was mentioned earlier. They will not ship them during the summer.

my pug has taken two transpacific trips. She was OK, but I would never do it in winter or summer to her. The only problem with pugs is that they shed like you wouldn't believe. After a couple of days it looks like I have carpet in my house.
