No local bars, low on cash, all my friends are either too far away or off-peninsula, and the rain will not stop (I hate going out in the rain--either I get wet from no umbrella, get wet from one of those tiny umbrellas, or get slightly wet with a big umbrella that then needs to be stowed at the bar).

All I can do is stay inside and cook--meatballs and tomato sauce, either for sandwiches or pasta, I'm not sure (anyone in the greater Mokdong area is welcome to come by for a taste).

Anyone else in a similar situation and, if so, how do you beat the rainy day blues?

I do it by keeping in mind just how god-awful late July and August are once the rain does stop.

Man it was hot when the sun came out from behind cloud today. My forearms burnt in a few hours and I have sort of a tan already. I found a dollar store with sunscreen for a buck (vs. ten bucks at the convenience stores) and it was an 'emergency'. Hot like badass solar radiation hot. Prelude to hell hot. Caught under Saturn V liftoff nozzles hot. Crazy stay in the shade or drop dead hot. And I'm talkin hot!

Get a gym membership, when your low on cash it's a good thing to work out for a couple of hours, you leave feeling a lot better about things.

Yeah, gym membership is good.

I suggest getting into martial arts, though. Of course, it will probably cost about 80,000won/month, so that run into a problem with the 'low on cash' thing.

Learning how to kick people and getting into shape doing so: There's no better feeling in the world.

Hey, Mr. Cigar_Guy,

A meatball sandwich sounds good. Share your recipe, please.
