So I'm a bit protective about my hair. I want to get it cut this weekend, but now I'm all paranoid. After having searched through Daves I have found numerous conflicting opinions about hair salons. Specifically Toni and Guy in Apkujong. Has anyone had a good experience in there? If so, what kind of hair do you have----details would be great.
Also, this Michael fellow at the place above burger king. Is he really the only good person there? Has no one found any expats who cut hair in this country? I'm willing to spend upwards of 100,000 to get a decent hair cut and colour, seems somebody's missing out on a pretty big cash cow!
All info is greatly appreciated!!!!! |

| I think most Korean stylists do okay with cutting Caucasian hair, especially if it's not super curly. They're just crappy at coloring it. |

| Sorry, more specifically I am planning to get it cut and coloured. I usually get foils, but am not adverse to streaking....although the pain of the cap is a deterrent....ohhhh the cap...... |

| For guys, go to a real barbershop (not the ones that are fronts for prostitution)...best haircuts ever....unless you're one of those flower boys, that is. |

Try Mimi a the Family Hair Salon in Itaewon. She's done my hair (short, thick, wavy) for the past 3 or 4 years. She charges about 140.00 for cut, color and highlights.
This information comes without any guarantees |

Prive Salon in the W Hotel - a cut is about 100,000 and my highlights were too expensive to admit to anyone BUT for the cut alone, well worth it. Fluent English from one of the girls there (she is kyopo, just moved to Korea a few months ago) and the other stylists have all trained at various big schools in England (Vidal, T&G, etc).
I can look up the phone number and put it up after dinner.
As for T&G I woudl not go to the one in Apku, but the one in Cheongdam (only a block or two away). Cut and foils from So-Ra, a fantastic stylist with a funky look and good English are about 150,000. I went to her for years until it's just too far away for me now. |

the only cut i've had in korea was from mini miasu (not so sure on the spelling) in apgu...got a cut and perm, LOVED it...about 100,000-120,000 can't remember...really great atmosphere (but i also went with friends)
my friend got a cut, color, condiditioning treatment, and digital (don't know why it's called that, but it's the one with a light curly wave halfway down) perm...for around 200 or so
however, this friend just got a trim at the technomart hair salon and thinks they did a great job too (10,000 for cut, 20,000 for cut and blowdry i believe)
we both have normal western brunette hair... |

| I got a color, highlights, conditioning treatment and a cut for 110,000. Pretty good job too! Unfortunately for you, I'm not anywhere near Seoul... |

hi there! Do you know where I can have my hair rebonded (permanent straight) in Korea? I had it done before I came here about 5 months ago but now the roots are curling and my hair has gone too dry.
Do Michel in Itaewon or Mimi also do permastraight/rebond? and have you had good straightened hair results from there? And for how much? I have shoulder length hair but I plan to have a really short funky cut..Thanks! |

I've never had it done personally, but they do magicstraight everywhere in this country and friends have said it's a lot cheaper here too. |

| I am a hairdresser myself and I go to Lon Lon in Inchon. They do a great job-Aveda only-and the owner's college age daughter sometimes fills in as a shampoo girl on weekends and she can translate fairly well. I got cut and corrective color with highlights for about 135,000. They do a good job on my baby fine, thin, very short hair. |

| There's a place right near Ewha Women's University called Eunha Hair Salon. It's across from the Red Mango, just down the street from Ewha Station. Ask for Jonny. He's fluent in English, and he told me that he cut hair in England for a few years. The salon offers 10% discount for foreigners. So, for a cut from a senior stylist, it was just under 25,000 won. I am also very particular about my hair, but Jonny gave me the best hair cut I have ever had, here or in Canada. Definitely worth finding. By the way, they have a branch in Apgujeong, near CineCity, but I don't know about the stylists there. Good luck. |

Hey, go to "the blue club."
Despite its erotic sounding name, its actually a haridresser that gives you a cut for O chun won (W 5,000).
Its great! They have pictures on the wall to help you decide - my favorite is cut number 5 (undong mori).
Top class. |
