After living in Korea for a few years, I've noticed my English is in the decline. I find myself fishing for adjectives in normal conversation where before I was a virtual thesaurus. I wonder what is happening. Is it age? I think one reason may be that I've grown incredibly accostumed to speaking baby-English to students/ korean friends, that I haven't been excersizing the creative-language muscle in my brain. I honestly feel dumber. Anybody else on the language decline?

Or is it the farking soju? Pistons in the brain are burnt and gone forever...

A few friends, a quality beer, and an update on the new slang will have you up and running again in a week or so when you get back home.

Yes. I'm afraid to e-mail my English teacher mother for fear of her wrath.

I refuse to answer on the grounds that I might incriminate myself.

During my first year here, I found that I was rapidly forgetting often-used words, so I had friends from home send me cryptic crosswords and word puzzles from my home newspaper. It worked a treat and I still have a wee stockpile of them that I am doling out to myself. They are great for doing on the subway and when travelling.

Less t.v., more reading, yet still the words slip away.

Living in Korea does take a bit of a toll on your English. Don't worry about it, though, it's just like riding a bike.

You are referring to the fact that some bicycle seats have the potential to cause impotence? What's the connection?

Actually I was referring to how it chaffes the thighs after prolonged periods of use.

Totally.

I'm forgetting the names of things (like... subway), and using the present simple for everything.
