I know that Canadian blood is good blood, but I really wish the mosquitos would go after someone else. I have AT LEAST 50 bites on my arms alone. It's insane. I have tried all kinds of products and nothing seems to be working. I haven't been able to figure out where they are getting in. All of my window screens are good and they are pressed up tight against the frame. Any ideas? |

1) burn coils
2) use a fan
"I know that..." Can you just ask about bug bites and ditch the snotty patriotism for once? Maybe they are attracted to your blood swelled head. |

Relax eh. What the OP said can hardly be described as "snotty patriotism". She basically mentioned that mosquitos liked her and that she was Canadian. I think you are reading to much into this. That or you are drunk.
You can buy coils that burn a scent that mosquitos hate. Citric acid I believe. The mosquitos have been suprising small in number so far this year. Last year was a nightmare. They were around until mid-November. |

This is what she said. This isn't saying that she's Canadian. You are wrong. She said she knows that Canadian blood is "good" blood. Does she have a hematology journal reference? I don't think she does. I'm tired of having Canadian patrotism thrown in my face all the time and I'm tired of having to accept it as "Cool". |

For a mosquito, any blood is good. It was just a joke. Take the OP's sentence as "I know Canadian blood is good blood (for mosquitos), but I really wish they would go after someone else. At least I took it that way.
Anyway, Canadian patriotism is far less annoying than American or Korean patriotism. Who really cares? |

Canada has an AIDS infection rate rivaling the most AIDS wracked parts of Africa.

Poverty linked to Canada's AIDS infection rate
Updated Mon. Mar. 17 2003 6:22 AM ET
Canadian Press
OTTAWA -- Aboriginals and blacks are experiencing the country's fastest-rising rates of AIDS infection, a trend being blamed on poverty and poor social conditions.
"HIV has an uncanny ability almost everywhere in the world to find the most marginalized people in society," says Martin Schechter of the Canadian HIV Trials Network. Activists will cite the latest figures as they press at Commons health committee hearings this week for increased funding to combat HIV-AIDS.
"All of the issues of poverty of despair and social dislocation and so on, those are some of the fuels that HIV relies on to spread," Schechter said in an interview.
Infection rates among aboriginals in Vancouver's downtown east side are 40 to 50 per cent, he said, as high as those in places like Botswana and South Africa.
"There's every indication from every data source we have that the problem among aboriginal people is on the rise," he added. "It's exactly now when you have to act."
The federal government's Canadian AIDS Strategy launched in 1992 provides $42.2 million annually to support AIDS prevention, research and treatment. Activists want the funding doubled.
"This epidemic is far from under control, it is moving relentlessly in vulnerable populations and we are very far from having a cure," Schechter said.
Farah Mohamed, a spokeswoman for Health Minister Anne McLellan, did not encourage expectations of increased funding.
"The government of Canada and the minister of health take the strategy very seriously . . . but I think $42.2 million is a significant amount of money."
She pointed out that funding is also provided by the Canadian Institutes of Health Research and the Canadian International Development Agency.
Aboriginals accounted for 14.1 per cent of AIDS cases reported in the first half of 2002, up from 5.3 per cent in 2001 and 10 per cent in 1999, Health Canada figures show.
The rate among blacks has also been rising and accounted for 15.6 per cent of cases reported in the first six months of 2002.
The proportion of cases among whites declined to 64.1 per cent in the first half of 2002 from 87.5 per cent before 1993.
Critics have charged that AIDS gets disproportionate federal funding compared with other diseases such as diabetes and breast cancer, but Schechter discounted this argument.
"It's a mistake to pit people with one disease against another. The question I ask is, how much are we spending on this disease against how much will we spend on it in the future?"
He said medical treatment for each case of AIDS costs a minimum of $150,000, and each 1,000 cases represent $150 million in future cost.

Well, I for one have never ate a brain hamburger. I'll leave that for B-rate Zombie horror movies.
All I meant was that most Canadians have a kind of quiet patriotism that appeals to me. It is not in your face. I admit there are a few idiots that are overly patriotic Canadians but I don't think the OP was one of them. |

You sir are a troll. Yes, I am sure you can find many problems with Canada. It isn't a perfect place by any means. Generally though, we don't rub other people's noses in it. I prefer it that way. |

Try this. They're electric and you put a little pad in the middle, it heats up and emits some mosqito killing chemical. Buy at Home Plus, Carrefoure, ect... Korean Brand Name: Home Mate. Don't know what the thing is called in Korean, sorry. Maybe Gyo jae yong? Anyone know?
Joe is not in Korea. Call me obvious. |
