Hey guys can anyone give me some good advice, my apartment has had no hot water for 2 weeks now, and the building manager has told my boss that it wont be fixed (maybe) till next monday, they have come a few times to look at things, but still havent managed to fix it and they keep making times and then not turning up at all.
So what position am i in? as the school pays for the apartment and my boss is an incredibly nice guy and i dont want to go off on a tangent with him.

So any suggestions etc are more than welcome

Craig

Since most Koreans don't bathe or shower in their apartments, they won't understand why you have such a problem with no hot water.

They think that you can wash your dishes in cold and the toilet doesn't need hot and your clothes can be washed in cold.... so....
They don't / won't see a problem.

Go to the nearest Sauna or Jimjilbang. ASK where it is. There is probably one within a 5 minute walk of your apartment. 3-7k won gets you an evening at a uniquely Korean experience.

Anything else will just get you a case of apoplexy and there is nothing you or your boss can do about it.

Your apartment manager is full of crap, and has his head stuck in the ground. Under no circumstances should you live under those conditions period. File a complaint in writing.

You don't sweat? You don't use hot water to wash your smelly boxers?

Yikes.

But a lot of smaller places actually turn the hot water off during summer--and think it's weird when whitey wants it. Bastards.

After a lot of complaining and the assitance of my fantastic Korean teachers, we got it sorted, finally!

Off for a hot shower

Take it easy!

Just wondering if you live in a high-rise development?

Last time I lived in one of those I was told by the Big Brother speaker in the hall, sometime in the Fall, that my hot water would be off for a week. When I asked the whitey wrangler at my hagwon what that was all about I was told it happens every year. Routine maintenance. They give the central mega-boiler and pipes a once-over.

Something tells me that this would only fly in Asia. Tell those picky, complainy Americans Wink that they won't have hot water for a week and all hell will fall on your head.
