Korean Fatherhood Investment Dropping
The National Women's Education Center, Japan, asked 1,000 parents of six countries, South Korea, Japan, the U.S., France, Thailand and Sweden, how much time fathers spend with their children. The targets were parents with children under the age of 12.
The results showed that the Korean fathers spent as little as 2.8 hours a day on average in 2005, the lowest figure among the countries. Japan followed Korea with a figure of 3.1 hours, then came France with 3.8 hours, the U.S. and Sweden with 4.6 hours and Thailand 5.9 hours in order.

Isn't it normal that if the Korean is the the longest working hours per day man in the world, that they have less time to be with their family? |

| Children also spend hours in school. And then when they go home they have to study. Those factors don't equal much time for child-parent bonding. |

If they did somehow get the extra time, do you really think that most would spend time with their children or with their buddies getting hammered at a room salon? |

| What a fair, objective comment. Good thing you only have four months left. Must be pretty boring walking around amidst all the one-dimensional people of Korea. |

Obviously you don't teach adults. I said "most" not "all." |

Good point actually.
I think it has become the norm that fathers tend to spend Sunday's with their familiy, but all the other days, they are too busy doing business ...
But it is not fair fair to call all Korean man to be such types.
But i do notice that there still lingers a difference in obligatiosn when it comes to being a father or a mother
Father: make money
Mother: take care of family.
It is not uniformal, but it still clings on to them. |
