Inspired by hit movie, groups refocus attention on pollution by U.S. military
With the success of the recently-released film "The Host," environmental organizations in South Korea are upbeat that their ongoing protests over pollution at U.S. military bases will gain support from those who see the dangers of toxic chemicals in the movie.... The idea for the monster originated from the case of Albert McFarland, a civilian mortician of the U.S. Forces Korea who ordered the dumping of formaldehyde into the river in 2000, but was later released on bail.

USFK to Punish Those Who Discharged Toxic Waste
U.S. Forces in Korea (USFK) promised to conduct a full investigation and to punish those who are found responsible for the discharge of formaldehyde into the Han River at a U.S. base, in a letter to South Korea's Ministry of Environment. According to the Environment Ministry on July 19, USFK insists that "based on the investigation so far, a maximum of 20 gallons of formaldehyde were discharged into the Han River in February. It was an isolated incident. However, USFK determined at the time that the formaldehyde did not pose a threat to the health of the public or the environment, because the waste had been filtered at a sewage disposal system at Yongsan military base."

Will they remember Koreans dumping and polluting?

Korean Bases Found Guilty Of Dumping Dirty Water
The environment ministry revealed Sunday that a third of water spewed out by Korean military bases was discharged without undergoing a proper purification process. In a written answer to a question from Representative Jeon Jae-hee, the Ministry of Environment disclosed that 63,693 tons out of the total 191,987 tons of water discharged from Korean military bases a day was dumped into the sewage system without the due purification process.

While you're at it, how about boycotting the Godzilla movies too? Those implicated the US, as Godzilla was grown from atomic waste.
