Hi guys, I'm one of the members who always try to join the dinner meeting, yet haven't been able to make it so far.
I'm a Korean who has lived/travelled abroad and I understand what foreigners go through in Korea very well. The different mindsets and culture, even I myself can't get used to some of them, ( maybe a lot of them).
I'm very much interested in promoting vegetarianism for foreigners in Korea. Rteacher suggested to cook for people coming to join our group and I was happy to say yes to do so and am trying to make time for it.
I know a lot of works that we have to do, to well organize this group.
I hope, we can deliver comfort and enlightenment to foreigners in Korea, through vegetarianism.
I'm not against whatever others believe or talk about during the meeting, I think it would bring more fun and energy as long as it's not too extreme and I belive, our being neutral, not leaning on any specific religion nor a political group is important.
I look forward to meeting all of you in person.
Thank you. Smile

Welcome! It looks like I'll be taking over from RTeacher, so I'm glad to have you aboard! How long have you been a veggie?

Hey to all you veggies out there, I'd like to introduce myself and officially come out of the closet (and hopefully make it to a meeting sometime soon to meet you). Are you having a meeting anytime soon?

Why preach to foreigners in Korea to become vegetarian? Why not do something about all the Koreans eating meat in every dish? The problem here is it's difficult to maintain a vegetarian lifestyle and not starve to death because of the options. Vegetarians can't even eat kimchi.

Not really sure that anyone was preaching. Seemed like friendly introductions to me....

Oh good! I'm not vegetarian but maybe you know of some vegetarian places outside of Seoul. We're sorely lacking in that as you can see here:

Know any places in Busan, Daegu, etc.?

Exactly ... plus she may even help some people who are having trouble finding good food to eat or who want to learn to make veg versions of Korean dishes.

Great to see you here, Solbeena. The veg group sounds like fun.
