A couple weekends ago I walked along the Han river after the flooding went down. Man, it left a thick layer of mud over everything. I saw some guy trying to use a garden hose to wash the mud back into the Han. Needless to say, his garden hose wasn't going to make much headway. He really needed a shovel:

i am more up the river, and here we have some kind of embakment 3 meters lower then the shoreline, ofcourse it was flooded, and the mud is about 20 cm deep.

Luckily the mud doesn't seem contaminated, but i am scared of all the bugs proliferating in there right now.

If the river banks were normal (ie, not concreted over and cemented ), there would be no problem. Silt deposition is a normal process in a river. they've outlawed natural riverside vegetation here, everything must be endless concrete.
