That highways with even numbers go East and West while highways with odd numbers go North and South?
That realization has been boggling my mind. Never will I be truly lost on my motorcycle again!
Anyways -- anyone else with a revelation of the sort presented here? |

Which makes perfect sense when I am on Highway 42 going trom Suwon to Yongin
... but makes no sense when I am on Highway 43 going from Suwon to Yongin.
These are parallel numbered highways that are about 1km apart.
Is that a revelation or just an empirical observation? |

It makes perfect sense... if you look at the whole highway and not just the section that goes from Suwon to Yongin (which actually only clips the northern part of Yongin on its way north to Gwangju), you'll see what I'm talking about.
The 42 goes, quite clearly, from the west coast all the way to the east coast. The 43 atarts in northern Gangwon-do and goes on to end, I think, in Hwasong somewhere - also a clear general north-south direction. |

That's true about interstate highways in the US as well. |
