Anyone know of any? Or if not Insadong, in the Jongno/Myeongdong/City Hall/Gwanghwamun area?

This guest house in Bukchon (within walking distance of Insadong) was very nice:

There's also a decent motel right in Insadong, but I don't remember the name of it. (It may have had a light green sign.) It wasn't as nice as the Bukchon guest house, but it was a million times better than Guest House Korea, which is also in the same general area. Ugh ... no soap or towels in the bathroom, bloodstains all over the walls, a funny smell in the room, a TV and phone that didn't work properly, super-rude staff ... if you can't afford anything better than that place (which wasn't much cheaper than a motel anyway), you're much better off staying over at a sauna, sleeping in a bus station, staying up all night in a PC room, walking the streets ...

Better yet, make reservations ahead of time at the place in Bukchon. You'll have a much better trip and a lot less aggravation.
