|

I've been reviewing an employment agreement that a potential employer in Korea has sent and I find the lingo, spelling errors and wording, very strange at best. What is your experience when dealing with contractual issues and the language the employer uses? It seems as though they are trying to avoid using proper language so as to confuse you. Is this a common practice with Koreans? How flexible are they when it comes to making deletions and changes, of which there are many? What do you think of 10 days vacation, 5 days emergency leave, 3 days sick leave and if you don't like it, what would you ask for that's reasonable. Please, anyone...what do you think? |

All teaching contracts are totally negotiable. Try changing anything you think is too stingy or un-reasonable.
The average for a hogwan contract seems to be;
10 days paid holidays
6 days paid sick leave
6 days paid emergency leave
2.0-2.3 million for 120 hours per month (depending on your quals. and exp.)
20,000won per hour overtime.
single studio (i.e. small) apartment.
paid flights, visa expenses etc.
If you're offered something like this then don't bother listening to all the people who boast of more. It's an average contract. |
