Hi there - first time poster, long time reader...

I was going back thru the post to find out about requirements for teaching in Korea. I saw one posted in May that was talking about BAs and such which threw me a bit, so I was looking for info from anyone.

I hold tertiary qualifications in Electrical Fitting and Mechanics, Computer Science and received 'Train the Trainer' cerificate from my current employer (supposed to be industry recognised). For the Aussies out there they were TAFE courses if that means anything.

All I was going to do was get the Cambridge TESOL from International House and head overseas! Am I kidding myself?

To legally work in Korea you require an E2 visa. To get an E2 visa, you need a University Degree (in any field). I have a TAFE Adv Dip and a Uni Degree... though of the two the TAFE course was waaaaay more useful than a BA Degree, (just not to get an E2 visa!)

With your quals and a TESOL cert you'd be able to easily get a job, legally, in China... but the pay is not so great.

You could also work here illegally but it has its risks.
