I am hoping the MODS will make this a sticky. These sites should help a lot of people. The goal of this thread is to provide browsers with a comprehensive list of sites that deal with electronics within or out of Korea.

Here is my contribution:

(domestic) - http://www.danawa.com
(domestic) - http://www.pops4u.co.kr/
(foreign) - http://www.tigerdirect.com

http://www.google.com - The best site on the net. The only one you need, actually, but I'll throw up some more for click-happy folks.

http://www.tweakguides.com/ - application-centered system adjustments for WinXP.

http://arstechnica.com/index.html - not light reading, but useful.

http://www.hardocp.com/ - great review site. The forums are excellent.

http://club.cdfreaks.com/index.php? - a great resource for all matters pertaining to copying CDs and DVDs.

http://www.bit-tech.net/ - Reviews and good forums.

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/ - Reviews and good forums.

http://www.rage3d.com/ - ATI-centered news and reviews. Good forums.

http://www.techspot.com/ - General news and reviews

http://www.xbitlabs.com/ - News and reviews

A good shop, similar to danawa, but a little easier to navigate:

http://www.omi.co.kr

One of my favorite computer shops in Yongsan, it doesn't always have the best prices, but they're reliable and usually have a good selection:

If you have any questions about laptops or you want to upgrade them, go here: Notebookforums

So far they cover the following brands:
    Acer
    Alienware
    Apple
    Asus
    Compaq/HP
    Dell
    Fujitsu
    Gateway/Emachines
    Hypersonic
    IBM
    Toshiba
    Sager
    Sony

Unfortunately they do not have Samsung and other Korean brands over there, but you can still learn a ton about laptops from there. Especially about upgrading them.

Great sticky. But I can't believe no one listed Tom's. It's the best reviews site hands down:

Are you serious? Shocked I think it was left out on purpose as that site is "well known" of writing garb... eh, biased reviews. I'll leave it to you find out which way the bias goes, but here's a little hint. It might have something to do with AMD, Intel, ATI and nVidia. Wink

I like looking at www.engadget.com (despite the Apple trolls).

Really? You learn something new everyday.

So how would one know if a website is being paid for good reviews or not? And wouldn't it ruin the reputation of the website to the extent that it would go under. Or is this info just something those 'in-the-know' know.

I simply saw a trend to their reviews over time. Look at their advertising; that is a pretty good way to tell where they draw their capital and like any news site, they won't be fast to bite the hand that feeds them. They also tend to stay away from "bum" products from their advertisers. Forums are a great place to find these kinds of things out as well.

This ~next page~
is ~next page~
our ~next page~
review ~next page~
of ~next page~
the ~next page~
latest ~next page~
Intel ~next page~
CPU ~next page~

Loads of ads...

Some sites are biased, but they intend to be. Rage3D, for example, is an ATI supporting site. They do review reasonably honestly, but indeed, they are pro-ATI.

Now, why doesn't it ruin their reputation? Because some people like to read what they want to hear. Anandtech is similar to Tom's, IMO, but leaning toward AMD. At least they don't go so far as to call Intel users "freaks" and "fanboys".
