There are a few advantages of being a member. Non members can only download 3 torrents per week. Members can request reseeds and post in the comments and forums.

also torrents marked as private can only be downloaded by members.

I have yet to become a member of a torrent site as I'm a little concerned about what will happen when they get busted. Even if you give a fake email address, it's still possible to track you via your ip and other methods.

There is no need at all for any invites or "exclusive" services from any torrent site. With some good searching one can always find what they want.

Personally, I get great speeds and find anything I want from Edonkey and, for torrents, Azareus.

I also don't register for torrents because eventually any site with registration will be taken down and then the authorities will have your email address, ip address, and logs of pirated files.

yes you can fake your email, but nothing can be faked 100% and if someone wants to find you badly enough they will.

Any visit to their web site or use of their tracker means revealing your IP and possibly being subject to a log of your IP. Seems to me you're traceable whether you register or not. I think if the MPA or RIAA really wanted to get you, they wouldn't have the site shut down and then surf through the server logs. They'd likely set up a honey pot on the server, capture the IPs of people downloading the content, and then file suit.

On the vast sea of piracy, with RIAA subs prowling, I would rather be in my kayak than on the Titanic.
