...but has anyone discovered in their wanderings a store selling carving tools, specifically those for wax?....Perhaps you've seen a good art supply or even a dental supply store selling tools or microcrystalline wax around Seoul?
I can get these things online but would prefer to purchase them here if possible...I want to browse.

There is one shop in Euljiro Sam Ga that specializes is light craftsman tools. Didn't see wax tools much. |

I think I saw some carving tools at Alpha (the big one in Namdemun). I don't have any idea if they were for wood, or wax, or both, since I know nothing about carving. In fact, I'm not even sure if I'm just superimposing products from the art store at home into Alpha....
I know this post isn't much help, but you could try there...
Actually, on second thought, check out their website to see if they do have what you want.
