If you use the Backpack textbook series, one of the books has a bit about Susan Butcher, who won several Iditarods. Anyway, she's dead.

It's the end of the world...My kids will never get over it if they find out this news. At least, one girl burst into tears when I once told her Shakespeare was dead.
