So today as an act of kindness my principal took the teachers left at school out to lunch. I don't like seafood. It is well known that I don't like seafood. So what did we have? LIVE OCTOPUS. If seafood tastes bad dead, it tastes even worse alive and squirming. I then got to wash it down with North Korean liqour.

I don't know what tasted worse.

i had it a few months back for the first time. the funny thing was, a couple weeks afterwards, i was watching the amazing race, and eating live octopus was one of the challenges! there was a team of two guys that took one look and opted for the other challenge, something like taekwondo or something.

Everyone at my work goes out of the way to cater to my bland, non-spicy tastes. "We better not go out for 갈비. It's too spicy for Jon."

I think your principal is deliberately trying to harass you. Strike back. Post a note accusing him of sexual harrassment on foreign teacher(s) and female students, send a report to the labour administration regarding his dubious work practices, and pull a midnight run.

This is exactly the kind of straight-up advice we need more of around here. Laughing

What I hate is when I'm STARVING and I wind up in situations like that. Some food I find unappetising (and it's invariably billed as "very good for health!" or "good for stamina!") and I'm picking around the grim offering of side-dishes. So, how was the kelp?

But if the principal was sexually harrassing her, she shouldn't have to wait for a bad luncheon to fire off that complaint. I don't think the two should be connected. Sexual harrassment is very serious business and should be dealt with immediately and on its own, not in the context of complaints about a bad luncheon experience. You know?

crazylemongirl,

I totally agree with you about seafood. Everytime I tell someone I don't like seafood (especially Koreans) I get odd looks.

There is a commercial on TV I've seen for a resturant with live octopus and just watching it makes me sick.

Yeah, total sympathy. My old boss did this sort of thing to me twice. I can't eat sea food of any description-even the smell makes me heave if it's too strong. I made this clear when first asked about likes and dislikes. His reasoning was 'the other teachers like seafood'. No problem, but I swore I would refuse to go if it ever happened again. Thankfully it didn't.

I didn't say the principal's harrassment was sexual in the first place. He's just trying to make her life miserable so she should fire back by whatever means available. There's nothing like that kind of accusation, or even rumor, to cause no end of trouble to a guy working with minors Twisted Evil
