bought a macbook in early may ('06). works beautifully. (this isn't an X v. XP thread)

no problems.

but last week i'm working on it and it shuts down. no warning. nothing. just black screen. i try to boot up. nothing. third attempt. powers up.

that was weird.

no problems 'till yesterday. shut down three times. i start googling. i can't be the only one with this problem.

so i found this

and then i read this! Macbook Battery Recall.

So I was going to get myself one of the new ones (first dive into mac) and I heard about this a few weeks ago so I chickened out and bought an ibook for 230 bucks on ebay. It runs great. It's nice.

Check for symptons :

- does it get hot and overheat? could be the m/b protecting itself
- does it work with the power connected?

Last resort would be to take it back to the shop and ask for a replacement (not a refurbish). The battery issue is but one of many problems with the latest macbooks.

You know that power supply problem with the old iBooks (mine was second-gerneration,) where the yo-yo-style power supply would break off near the computer? I replaced mine twice, replaced my battery twice as a concurrent result. Having that SAME problem with my new one (December 05.)

NOT happy!

Damn that would suck big time, otherwise the macbooks are such fine machines. I remember Apple were seriously considering dropping LG as a battery supplier for their Powerbook line last year after two separate recalls were necessary http://www.appleinsider.com/article.php?id=1093

Anyone know the current supplier? This needs to be sorted out, fast.

Should be only about $100 to replace...I know, I've done it again and again...
