I have been asked to come to a wedding, and was asked to wear a kilt while I walk someone down the aisle. Everyone that I have known at weddings have worn tuxedos. I'm not from Scotland and don't want to put on war paint to play Braveheart. |

Is your friend Scotish? I've been to a wedding where the groom and groomsmen wore kilts because the bride was Scotish. It seems to me that if it means something to your friend then you should consider doing it. |

Well, since you are not Scottish, then you should only do it if the couple is really begging you. It seems like you are not comfortable with it- many guys are not secure enough to figure out that it's cool as h3ll.
I am Scottish, so I have worn my kilt to weddings- here in Korea, too. The ladies love it!
Of course, there are your bone heads who think "you're wearing a dress- you're gay". Insecure, neanderthal attitude.
Kilts rock! And true Scotsman know what is worn underneath!
Anyway, you should only wear one if you are comfortable with it. If it is really part of the attire for the ceremony, you should think about taking the plunge for your friend's sake. |

As another Scotsman I recommend giving the kilt a shot. As the poster above pointed out, it looks cool as hell, and it means you can carry a hip flask of single malt around in your sporran all night. Very handy. Also, it's very comfortable and very liberating. A breath of fresh air, quite literally.
But, only wear it if you want to, and I'm assuming either the bride or groom are actually Scottish are they? If your mate is Scottish then I don't think it matters that you aren't, go for it. It's a bit of fun. |

Its for your own sister's wedding. Strap on the kilt and stop acting like a baby. |

They're not dresses. And it's extremely sexy to see a man confident enough to wear one. |

Still sexy. But don't wear one. You'll be the one guy in the bridal party not wearing one. I think you'll look more strange that way. |

Yes, they are skirts.
In Scotland all us guys are having a laugh.
"Man....we are wearing skirts dude. It's awesome. And all those retards think we actually believe they are kilts. Jackasses.
Question 1 - In the above quote, how many of those words would get me stabbed if I used them back home in Scotland?
Oh yeah, kilts are great. |

My mom tried to convince me to wear one for my wedding; her mom's from Scotland and she was born in Canada but raised in Scotland. As for me, it's that place that taught my grandma to speak funny. I told them if they bought me a castle on a loch or a distillery on the whisky Trail I would consider it...
and surprise, surprise, I wore a tux. |

You're not from Scotland. Why wear a kilt?
I'm not from Hawaii. That's why I don't wear grass skirts to weddings.
Really though. If it's just for fun......who cares. |
