my visa expires on august 21st, and i return from cambodia on august 22nd. the retards in suwon have managed to mess up the paperwork so i might not have everything ready before i leave to renew my visa. what happens if i return with an expired visa?
is it imperative that i renew it before i go? |

Similar thing happened to 1 of my associates only he didn't realize it before he returned because they screwed up the dates on his visa and shortchanged him by a few days. So they let him back in on a tourist visa and then, even though they realized they had made a mistake, made him do a visa run. Even the uni we work at couldn't get them to make an exception.
But since you already have the paperwork in process you might be OK but you need to somehow get your ass covered before you leave. |

OK...
the paperwork to EXTEND your E2 work visa is not hard.
You need your new contract
Your bosses business registration
Your ARC and your passport.
A signed application.
90,000 won for the extension and single re-entry permit. (w60k + w30k)
It takes about 15 minutes at the counter + waiting line time at the immigration office.
If you do NOT have your extension and your visa expires during your time out of the country then when you return you will have a B1 / B2 visa waiver (tourist) stamp placed in your passport. You will NOT legally be allowed to work.
You will then need to apply for a NEW E2 visa. This means all new documents including diploma and transcripts. Then you have to make your visa run. |

It shouldn't be a problem coming back on a tourist visa. I'd be more concerned about how you're going to survive without Poker for that long. |
