There used to be a place called "Pizza Cok" in my area. It closed down. Don't know why, maybe the name! Never tried it, just funny.

Best I've had so far is Papa John's. The worst I've had is... any average Korean pizza shop. It all tastes like rubber. Papa John's is good for chain pizza, anyway. As far as real pizza.. haven't found it yet.

The first floor of my apartment has a Papa John's. The surrounding area makes me gasp with hunger because of the smell. Must... resist....

Heim Pizza. I love Pizza Hut at home, but sweet potato and chestnut do not belong on pizza. This has gone WAY beyond the corn thing...

I voted for Pizza Hut, but on second thought, I should have voted for other.

There is (was?) this place in Daehangno that was pretty good and had a cozy atmosphere. When you go out of the subway there (that's the Hyehwa station, I think), from that big main street there, you go over to the side of the street where everything is, where that, like, Java Coffee, or something, and that TGI Friday's are. Then go up into that neighboorhood of restaurants and bars up to that road that runs parallel to the big main street. You turn right and walk a ways (a couple hundred meters), and then the place is on the left. They have a stone oven, if I remember correctly.

Does anyone know the place I mean? My department took all of us teachers out there one night and it was pretty good.

By the way, where is the Heim Pizza?

I miss Papa John's so much!!! Ever since I moved to Daegu it's only Pizza Hut so we just don't order it very much. There are a bunch of five thousand won pizza places here though.

Pizza Hut stuffed crust is totally killer, greasy goodness. But when you want something a little less intense, I think Pizza Etang serves up a good veggie.

You wouldn't be thinking of Dimatteo Pizza in FABULOUS JONGNO-GU, would you?

1-141 Dongsoong-dong
FABULOUS JONGNO-GU
Seoul

Hyehwa Station-Line 4, Exit 2

tel: (02) 747-4444

Pizza to Please Presidents, in FABULOUS JONGNO-GU

Quote:
Dimatteo will delight anyone in the mood for some good Italian cuisine. This is authentic Italian dining - right down to the shouting Italian man! Patrons can watch the whole pizza-making process, and choose from a wide variety of toppings. Try the Margarita for KRW21,000. Complement your meal with a sweet Italian liquor or a bottle of Chianti or Valpollicello wine. Service is extremely efficient, and reservations are necessary for Mondays only. Dimatteos reputation even reached former United States president, Bill Clinton, who dined here in 1997.

Every time I've been there it's been uncomfortably crowded, despite being quite large. Not sure I agree with "cozy"... maybe there are corner tables downtairs on the ground floor that feel cozy?

That sounds more Bush that Clinton, no? "Hey, I'm in Korea for the ol' state visit. So, who's gonna hook me up with some rockin'-ass pizza, huh!"

No wait. Wasn't there a lot joking that he was a junkfood addict? I barely remember that man.

Yeah, sounds like Di Matteo, although the one time I went it wasn't crowded at all. Very interesting pizza.

The new Jenny's Cafeteria does a very interesting pizza as well.

(By interesting, I mean that these pizzas seem more European)

Papa John's does the best standard western pizza around Seoul.

That's the one I voted for. I mean, since Donky Pizza wasn't a poll option.

Hey, where's DEATH THREAT #3?

That place is great. Two thumbs up!
You know you're getting good pizza when hairy-armed Italians in wife-beater vests are manning a wood stove. But Zyzyfer is right. It's European pizza. Not American-style. But they're close enough and both delicious.

I was the weirdo who voted for Pizza Etang!!! Shocked In my current neighborhood, the Etang is really good. Light and tasty. And you get two 12-inchers for 18,000. With a liter of Coke thrown in!! Take that to Papa Johns!!!

On the downside........The Pizza Etang in the last four neighborhoods I've lived in tasted like something kindergarten kids would make.

I think it really depends on the staff in each branch and how much they know about pizza.

I now get pizza at this secret Korean place. Its so secret I don't even know its name or where it is. But it has delicious stuffed crust and pounds of gooey mozza. Yum!

I heard about it through various people and then had my supervisor call for me. She told them that I (along with my roommates) want their pizza on a regular basis but don't speak Korea. So now when we phone they know its us, we just say the name of our school and "English-ee" and 20 minutes later we get a fresh, smoking hot yummy pizza at our door. 12000 won for a large! We just say "Hana" or however many we want.

the names on the boxes change, so I don't know its name. I can't give you their number because we're their only English customers and I don't want to confuse them. They also apparently have a limited delivery area. But we get free stuff sometimes and we're probably keeping them in business.

Papa John's has nothing on these guys.
