Hey everyone, I have some more info on a great event happening soon ^^
This Saturday in Sinchon, at the Hana International Cafe and Pub, you can experience the thrill of bidding for lovely ladies or gorgeous men.
The winners of the auction will be able to spend the evening partying with their newly purchased slave. That isn't all, the new master and slave team will also be treated to a date later on in the week ^~
Entrance to the event costs 15,000 won and includes unlimited beer and snacks. There are only 200 tickets available for this great event and the tickets are going fast ^^
The Hana International Cafe and Pub is a great place for foreigners to meet English-speaking Koreans (you can check out my previous posts for more information ^^)

Directions: Go to Sinchon Station, take exit 3 and walk about 300 meters towards Yonsei University ~ You can see a Nike store on your right hand side ~ Hana Cafe is on the 3rd floor above the Nike shop.

Tickets: You can get your tickets at the door, but a reservation is required ^^ Call the manager Dion to make your reservation 010-2213-6636.

This should go over well and be interpreted in good faith by anyone from the Korea Herald trolling this site.

The money goes to paying for the expenses of the slaves dates ^^ Also some will be used to offset the cost of some nice prizes that will be offered throughout the night (The 15,000 entrance is for the unlimited beer/snacks).

I agree with what YBS said, given the fact that foreign teachers have been taking a beating (figurately speaking) in the press, calling them slaves is pretty much asking for trouble.

It's an interesting dating twist for sure.

Oh wow, I should really make it more clear ~ most of the "slaves" are Koreans ~.~ There are only two "foreign slaves" to date, and neither are English teachers. Shocked They are just there for the pretty. This is in no way an English Teacher Auction or some warped statement on the work conditions of foreigners in Korea Confused My goodness, is it just me or do people read to much into things nowadays? Beer good, faux slave auction fun Laughing

How much do they usually bid for?

Can you make them do things for you? You know what I'm talking about. Carry my bag, answer my phone when I'm indisposed, light my cigarette, that kind of thing..

Otherwise I'm out.

Foreigners bidding on Koreans as slaves? Oh yeah, that'll go over well with the Korea Herald. I can see it now:

I am certain the slaves would be happy to carry your bag, light your cigarette or answer your phone ~ among other misc tasks, which would of course have to be discussed with your purchase Laughing But remember kiddies, this is a "fun event" not some sorid back alley transaction ~ let's try and keep it clean for everybody.

Uh, I think the point is that Koreans as Foreigners' slaves is the kind of thing that would get written up by the Herald, thus contributing to the bad opinion of EFL teachers here.

Exactly. The Korea Herald would spin it to where it was thought up, funded, and executed by the Evil Teachers at DavesESL, the poor innocent Koreans were threatened, at gunpoint mind you!, to do it, and they were told by the Evil Teachers at DavesESL that they wouldn't be shipped off to Cambodia if they were the mods' sex slaves.

Or something along those lines.

Do I need to put "EQUAL OPPURTUNITY SLAVES" in the headline Shocked *shakes head* Fine ~ you all think what you will! For all of those who are now curious, I will be a slave at this event ~ I am 24 female and Canadian and have no problem with a Korean or another foreigner buying me for the duration of the event ~ I mean really *throws up hands* This is just supposed to be good fun among friends.
The Koreans running the event are my buddies and asked me to see if I could find some more foreigners who would like to attend and maybe make some Korean friends Confused God knows, if the KH agents have a issue with this, do let them talk to me Rolling Eyes

Confused I was going to make another comment here, but you people are making me tired ~ Come to the party if you want, share your theories on how the media will spin this event to outlandish proportions to make foreigners evil (it has been a slow news week afterall) or what not until your fingers fall off from typing *stretches* I will answer any legitimate questions or concerns as they appear *salutes* That's all from me.
