The biggest similarity between most posters here is extremism. If not utterly racist or "if you don't completely agree with me and America you are a terrorist loving anti-american hippy" people or view the world out of very blinding glasses (religious fanatics) or just plain naive (Hellabollza, whatever, is a good organisation) or completely anti-America for some strange reason, then you don't belong here. If you don't see the world in black and white, you just don't fit in the cliques here and the people here just can't seem to understand you as they find it difficult to brand you.

So, what you're saying is that you're somehow more objective than the rest of us. If I had a nickel for every poster who rolls in with that attitude...

Whether or not that's what you mean, I take issue with you characterizing our forum posters as being in cliques. That implies a more social system of insiders and outsiders, which I don't think exists.

Most people on this board don't know each other outside of the forum. Nor do they coordinate in posting. Rather, people with similar feelings/beliefs on one issue or another end up posting together on the same threads along similar veins.

As for extremism, I believe 99% of wha we see on here are stances held by substantial numbers of the greater world population. Generally speaking, I think the word "extremist" serves more as an epithet used by people who are trying to summarily dismiss others whom they strongly disagree with.

I don't know of any Quaeda-supporting Jihadis posting here, and there are maybe one or two people who roll out something like "nuke the Middle East into a parking lot"., then disappear.

It's a turbulent climate, but I don't see why there isn't room for your opinions here, Lao.

I suppose it does require at least a semi-thick skin, but that's what happens when people with conflicting concepts of current events come together.

The alternative is to only talk with like-minded people who agree with you. But that just leads to a lot of group-think. Arguing with opponents allows you to refine your positions and perhaps, at times, change your mind.

Know your enemy. Er, that sounds extremist.

Know your fellow poster.

A well there are a lot of posters on this board who would side with anyone who is against the US.

I am sure they don't love Osama , I am sure they would not vote for him in an election, but they enjoy the fact he can hurt the US and wish him luck doing so in the future.

You are probably correct in stating that there are many here who enjoy the fact that Osama can hurt the U.S.

I will brand you boy!! You are boring! become an extremist! get an opinion, for pitys sake!! No more fence sitting, no more criticism and conjecture from the sidelines while you refuse to take a stance. Laughing

seriously- what irritates me most is folks whose opinions on world affairs come from the media- ie they've never had any exp of the people or places they debate. If you're going to argue fiercely against Israel, at least make sure you've met and hung out with some Israelis before..
if you're going to spout off about Muslims, don't tell me you've never actually met any.

Who in his right mind would _enjoy_ seeing anyone being hurt by terrorists? I doubt that anyone from this board actually enjoys the fact that people, innocent or not, are being killed and maimed. That would be too sick!

HL Mencken said, "No one ever went broke underestimating the taste of the American public." Using a little editorial license, you could alter that to 'some of Dave's posters'.

Anyone remember that the US could not get support for sancitons against Iran in the 1990's when Clinton was president

Anyone remember the US having problems with enforcing the sancitons when Clinton was president.

The hate Bush no doubt but they hate the US to. The US was hated and resented long before Bush was president.

This is like saying its OK that the neighborhood bully beats the crap out of everyone with a baseball bat because the previous bully beat the crap out of one guy in a fist fight.

Nope it is has been a world wide trend to hate the US since the end of the cold war cause the rest of the world doesn't like there to be a superpower so much of the world supports enemies of the US. Not cause they particularly like them- but because they don't want to see the US in any stronger strategic position. Each time an enemy of the US falls the US is of course better off. That is what much of the world does not want to see.
