I know that we have 14 days to leave Korea once the Alien reg. card has been returned to immigration. Is there any possibility that this can be extended? Would a tourist visa work? I basically need to stay a little longer than 14 days before leaving Korea.

I think the 14 days is only given if you're fired and you receive an exit order from immigration. I believe that you have to leave on the date that you see on your ARC. That's the expiration date of your E-2 visa, and the date you must leave by or you have overstayed and can be fined.

Fees (30,000 won, 20,000 won for F-2 only)
If your application is accepted, the Immigration officer in charge will stamp your passport and record the amendments on the back of your alien registration card |

Hey,
The date on my ARC expires exactly 1 year after the date I arrived, but my boss had me sign my contract a few days after that. So am I required to stay until the end of my contract or should I be leaving on the date indicated on my ARC?
I know this is kinda unrelated, but your question prompted my own.

You are REQUIRED to leave the country OR get an extension BEFORE the date indicated on your ARC.
Failure to do so will result in fines, possible delay in your departure and a mark in your immigration file for an overstay.
An extension is as simple as taking your departing airticket and ARC down to the immigration office and filling in the form asking for an extension.
They will extend you until the date indicated on your ticket. There is no cost for a short time extension (typically less than 2 weeks but can be up to 30 days). |

YOU DO NOT HAVE 14 DAYS!!!!
You must leave the country or get an extension BEFORE the exit date indicated on your ARC.
You can get a 1-30 day extension by simply showing your departing ticket and your ARC to the immigration officer and filling in the extesnion application form. There is no cost for this. |
