Like to have one of their sandwiches from time to time. Was sad to see them lose their spacious flagship 3-story, very nicely done up shop in Itaewon.
Last I knew, there was one near Shin Chon (spell?), just under a cinema, half way up from the ShinChon station to the Ehwa station. Still there?
I knew of one being in the supermarket of the Galleria in Kangnam.
Think there was one in the basement of large office building in downtown Seoul.
Website used to list a few others, but can't rely on that info as it still has pics of their lost Itaewon flagship.
If you know of one that is still actually open, could you share it here?
Used to be a couple thousand won more expensive than subway sandwiches, but for certain sandwiches, well worth it. Now with subway charging around 7,000 won for sandwiches (raised their prices 15% last month!), if Schlotzsky's has kept their prices the same, they wouldn't be all that much more, maybe even similarly priced. |

I remember one in the COEX theater area (Samsung station) a year ago.
Saw one in Daegu the other day at Youngpoong bookstore. There was also one (a year ago) at the same bookstore in Seoul at Chonggak station, Chongno/Kwanghwamun area. |

The one at Yongpoong was still there the last time I was at the bookstore (a few months ago). |

It transformed into a "Han's Deli" a couple of months ago. |

Well, it sounds like they're gone. Another one bites the kimchi !
Ever see Wetzel's Pretzels? They used to have one in Bundang. Lasted a few months.
Dairy Queen? used to - gone
Wendy's ? used to - gone
Arby's? used to - gone
Taco Bell? hear they gave it try over ten years ago
(Umm . . . anyone know of Mighty Taco from the Northeast in the states? Now that would be one to have here! - - But then again, . . why wish it upon them?!)
Levi's -- had their own shops here some 15 years ago I hear; now just a brand in jeans stores.
Abercrombie? Are they actually here? Or, are all those Abercrombie shirts and such simply copies?
Anyone know how these brand names do in Japan? Taiwan? |

Sbarro is on it's last legs. Perhaps the most awesome pizza place in Korea. Strange though even the busy stores have closed. It's all over now bar the one in COEX. |

DQ didn't thrive here? DQ's seem to do better down south (in the USA)- with those 10-12 month summers. |

What happens is that the greed-heads who own the rights to the brand name end up charging so much in royalties the franchise owners are better off shutting their doors and opening another biz entirely. I taught the daughter of an owner of Subway, which closed for this reason. |

Schlotzky's closed in my hometown too.
I remember when Schlotzky's opened in Kangnam. Free meals for all, and I just so happened to have a craving for Schlotzky's at that moment (well, because I saw the sign).
I remember when I went back to Korea about a year later and that same Schlotzky's having disappeared. |

You're right, that happens a lot in Korea. The big dogs bite the hand that feed them and wind up with a midnight runner. |

Schlotzkys has closed a lot of stores both overseas and in the US. they are still thriving in Austin but remember thats where they started. Also saw a few outside of Austin but now think they may of decided to concentrate where they are popular.
I miss DQ here, the blizzards are great. they are also a huge part of small town Texas. Amazing how the Thais have taken to DQ imagine going to one is a small town in Texas with the country music blaring etc then going to one in Bangkok, a shock.
I really wonder about the Koreans taste regarding killing sbararro they were the best pizza here and hadn't been "koreanized" like so many other western brands here. The one at Coex tasted the same as the one at the Univ of Miami without the view |
