So last week I signed a pretty standard contract with EPIK. Today they asked me for my transcripts. Then all of the sudden they said the principal said that they no longer felt like paying me the 300 settlement money and that they would cut 50% of my transportation fees. This school is not in the city I have to take a bus for about 30 minutes.

I agreed to the 300 thousand because it will give me the opertunity to quit if I am unhappy and not own a single won to the school. Ofcourse I made a demand that 10% of first month salery deposit be removed as well because their is no longer need for it. I didn't care about this much money anyway.

I also asked them to change stupid clause from Article 3

6. Other duties designated by the employer to 6. Other duties pertaining to English instruction designated by the employer with in Korean labour law standards.

I did tho get pretty annoyed about the 50% cut to traveling expenses. that would be 600k in a year. I said NO.

Also I informed them that if they don't feel like changing
the following.
② The Governing language of the Contract shall be Korean. The English translation of this Contract is made for the purpose of convenience.

to

② The Governing language of the Contract shall be Korean and English.

That the contract would be completly void, and I would be able to leave this school at any point in time because under Korean law this contract holds no water. It not like they could stop me from doing a midnight anyway.

Lets see if they manage to stand their ground or backdown. I just want them to say NO to the changes so I can finnaly get a vacation that I badly need. I have had enough of Korea's bullshit.

Please say NO. Just so I can stick it to them.
