I have just been offered a job with a Hagwan who is offering to send me home for Christmas, for a 2 week paid vacation as part of my benefits ( they will be paying for the airfare). They have sent me a contract and I have it in writing.

Question is, once its in writing and signed by both parties is it set in stone?

In your experiences have the schools that you have worked for provided what they promised in their contracts?

What recourses do I have if they dont do what they say?

Thanks a lot.

Sweet deal. Just make sure to cross your t's and dot your i's. You may want to post your contract, or at least the clause itself, here to have people check it for any escape hatches.

if they have it in the contract they will most likely honour it.....its usually the maybe's and kind of's and unclear clauses that come back to haunt you.

Thanks, that gives me some piece of mind. The contract was very clear. Though I had heard of companies in Korea not coming through with what they promised in their contracts, especially end of contract bonuses.

Here is a quote from the contract:

Part IV "The INSTRUCTOR shall receive a paid roundtrip ticket to visit home during the winter holidays, and a bonus of ....... upon completion of twelve month term. "

They mentioned previously that it would be for 2 weeks, but didnt write it in the contract ( my vacation time is listed in part 6 in the contract). Ill ask them to put the length of winter vacation time into the contract, just to be on the safe side.

Thanks again
