yes or no? My wife and I just got our renewal visa today and this year, they didn't stamp the passport. They only updated the back of the ARC card. Does anyone know?
I know immigration has implemented some new stuff this year; is this one of them? |

The renewal of the visa requires no stamp, and that is the way it always was. So, this is not one of them. |

Diablo3 is right.
The only stamp in your passport you would get upon renewing your visa is the reentry permit stamp (if you applied and paid for it at the same time as renewing your visa). |

The multiple entry visa is stamped in one of your passport pages bearing the end date of when you can make multiple entries back and forth Korea.
When you enter Korea, customs will look for that in your passport.
It costs 50000 won and 1 visit to immigration and an application form. |

The Immi. office is a good hour by bus away. What happens if I leave to The States for a month then come back without it? I, of course, have my valid visa. |

I'm pretty sure your visa would be invalidated at that point. Better get to immi. |

But that wouldn't make sense as I have a work visa that hasn't expired. |

CL,
you should have either the single entry or the multiple stamp (depending on what you paid for) in your passport. If for some reason you don't have one, when you are leaving just arrive at Incheon airport an hour earlier than usual and go to the immi office there and have them to stamp it for you. its 30k for a single and 50k for a multiple.
This will take care of everything for you.
cheers. |

CL,
What kind of a visa are you on?
F-2, needs reentry stamp
F-5, doesn't
F-4 not sure
E-2 depends on your nationality, Americans general have (M) multiple reentry, but not always. |

Problem resolved. My original visa has the M under entry. It has been renewed so it is most likely renewed as multiple. Thanks everyone. |

For Americans, I heard that the 'Multiple' part of the visa is sneakily nullified upon renewal. Right? |

OP -
If you did not fill out the form, pay the money and have a new re-entry permit stamped in you passport, you don't have one.
If you leave the country without a valid (new) re-entry visa, your ARC will be taken away from you, your visa canceled by immigration, and you'll get a tourist visa stamped in your passport at the airport when you come back.
You will have to sign a new contract, apply for a new visa and do a visa run.
You can get a single re-entry at the airport. If you want multiple you'll have to go to your local imm. office. |

OP- "Problem sloved...." ??? Better think twice! You are thinking much too logically. This thread seemed to slipping away...so, before you leave the country on vacation...know that the "re-entry permit" (multiple or single) stamped on your "original" visa expired and is not re-newed along with the visa. Read the previous post....you will making a visa run (at your own expense) if you don't get a new re-entry permit that matches the date of your renewd visa. |

From what I know, your multiple entry is gone when you renew. If you leave without ensuring you have a re-entry permit then you will have to do another visa run.
You can get your re-entry permit at the airport the day you leave. Go an hour or two earlier and save yourself a headache and a lot of unnecessary expense. |
