Someone did a survey of Canadians' favorite driving songs. The list is so shameful I almost want to burn my Canadian passport. Maybe I can coach a Korean team to a semi final victory and get an offer of citizenship...
The abortion of a list:
1) Summer of '69 - Bryan Adams
2). Bohemian Rhapsody - Queen;
3). Born to be Wild - Steppenwolf;
4). It's Only Rock 'n Roll (But I Like It) - The Rolling Stones;
5). Drive My Car - The Beatles;
6). Free Fallin' - Tom Petty;
7). Radar Love - Golden Earring.
Geez weirder they stopped at 7... didn't go all the way to 10. Maybe they were too embarressed.
8 ) Rubber Ducky - Sesame Street on Ice;
9) The Chicken Dance - Walter Ostenik and the Time;
10) Freebird - Anne Murray and Corey Heart.

Anything by Sonic Youth usually suits. All that noise and dissonance is quite fitting. |

Assuming 8 to 10 is MMT's joke, I find that list more or less acceptable- with the glaring exception of Bryan Adams.
It's certainly not MY list, but it's not nearly a bad as I would have expected from the average Canadian (again, the glaring exception to this statement being Bryan Adams).
BTW, Bryan couldn't have been older than 7 or 8 in 1969... |

They must have made a mistake, it should've been Twilight Zone - Golden Earring

Strange, I would've figured Canadian tastes would be a lot closer to American tastes. That list is actually Can-Con compliant.
Probably a similar list done by Americans would produce even worse music. At the very least there are no boy bands on this list. |

Well, that makes about as much sense as... anything else you've ever written here, so... points for consistency, I guess.
Racist?
Why? How?
Canuck-bashing?
Well, we all have our own musical tastes...
a-hole?
Subjective. If you think he's an a-hole, then you think he's an a-hole. |

| Well, I'm Canadaian and I have to admit this is a pretty bad list. Summer of 69 is a great song, though. Also, that whole Tom Petty and the HB's album is great driving music. The rest of that list really bites. In my opinion, the best driving song is Don Henley's "Boys of Summer". Awesome tune. |

My friend got married and had written into the DJ's contract that he will not even bring the Chicken Dance LP onto the premises. If the LP even made it onto the premises the contract would be null and void and the DJ would go without his fee. The DJ thought this was a little odd. He was like "dude, I just won't play it."
My friend was like "No... because someone will get drunk and request it and slip you $50 and you will play it." |
