Reckless Taxi Drivers
According to the National Taxi Drivers Association, 46.1 percent of unionized corporate taxis killed or injured people last year alone, a figure that is up 13.8 percent from 32.2 percent in 2002. Private taxi drivers also caused death and injury in traffic accidents. The incidence rate went up from 11.6 percent in 2002 to 16.7 percent last year. As many as 312 people were killed, and 96,728 were injured in taxi-related accidents. In contrast, only 5.5 percent of passenger cars cost human lives last year, a statistic not much different from previous years.... The National Taxi Drivers Union estimated in its report that nearly 10,000 out of 23,000 corporate taxis in Seoul are illegally rented.

So what you're saying is that 5.5 percent of passenger cars (private owned cars?) killed people last year. Hmmm... there are 2 million cars on the road everyday in Seoul. That's 100,000 people killed by cars last year? Rolling Eyes

Driving in Korea? No Thanks
In a similar report from the RTSA, traffic accidents caused over 9 trillion won worth of social loss last year and that a total of 240,832 cases of traffic accidents were reported in 2003, killing 7,212 people and injuring 376,503. While the number of deaths edged down 0.14 percent from 2002, the number of traffic incidents increased 4.2 percent with the number of injured up to 8.1 percent. Obviously all those crackdowns arent as effective as some would think.

I was on an Inter-County Bus going to Seoul with a very famous Gyopo who works as a teacher-recruiter. As soon as the bus got nailed by a woman who seemed to be in a hurry, he feigned injuries. He even asked me to do the same.

I ride a motorbike, have for some years now here in K, and I can totally agree with the heads up about taxi drivers being extreme madmen.

About three months ago, a taxi changed lanes right into my rear tire on my motorcycle.

I broke a rib, and spained almost every joint on my right side.

I will write a more detailed review after my law suit. The taxi's insurance company wants to give me 300,000won for my 'pain money.' What a joke! (He got 100% accident fault.)
