i was told this happened by a friend, but can't confirm it through google. She said the japanese government wanted the japanese to be taller and bigger, so they forced japanese women to marry foreign men to change their gene pool. She said it was like 20 years ago.
can anybody confirm this ever happened?
i want to win the argument. I can't see how the government could force japanese women to have intermixed babies. What could they do? offer free drinks to girls and put up really cheap hotels next to the bars with lots of foreigners?
i just don't get it.
thanks, guys! |

I thought someone in the Japanese government wanted Japanese to eat hamburgers under the belief it would make them tall and blond in a couple generations? I can't imagine a people who cherish the purity of their race wanting their sacred women kind to boink whitey . Once they get some of that huge man meat, they'll just end up telling all their friends and their friends will make their husbands, some who might be politicians, feel under endowed. No? |

| My wife is saying it's true, but they weren't forced, just encouraged. I'm still sceptical unless I see proof. |

| Its true. It started with the Chinese all the way to South America (a lot of Japanese Brazillians in Japan). Peru was former run by a Japanese, Albert Fujimori, which I believe the connection helped encourage the racial mixing in Japan. The government never forced anyone, just encouraged the idea. Don't forget, there are many Koreans living there too. |

am i the only one having trouble understanding what this paragraph says? Peru was run by a man named ALBERT FUJIMORI? Therefore Brazilians were encouraged (from neighboring Peru) to sleep with and impregnate Japanese women? Supposedly their babies would be imported back into Japan and mixed with purebreed Japs in order to improve the race? And korea does this too??? Is this what rocklee is trying to say? |

| and the fact that the Japanese are extremely xenophobic and concerned with ideas of nationality relating to 'blood' and blood purity' wouldn't have anything to do with why she thinks this is bullshyte? |

would the Japanese readily admit to past policies of inter-breeding with non-Japanese people?
Similarly, would members of any highly-homogenous society? |

This could come from a Korean idea about the Japanese. It seems Koreans think all Japanese love nothing more than race-mixing. A story like this would fit in very well to most Koreans' mindsets.
My friend over there tells a fairly different story though. He says marriage certificates don't even leave room for more than six characters, which is obviously a slight against us foreigners with long names. At least in Korea they don't mind when our names are more than three symbols. |

They are not that xenophobic, just nationalistic and in fact no different from the rah rah and pom poms you get from Team America. |

But there is undoubtedly an 'ethnic' dimention which contributes to their sense of nation and nationalism- as there also is in countries like Korea, or countries in Europe.
I don't think it is as pronounced in 'team america'. But then, I'm not a member of that club. |

| My friend also mentioned they're not quite as cool about interracial relationships as I imagined. It sounds like Japanese girls have a hard time breaking the news to their families, as in they never do. |
