Here are some excerpts from an opinion article published in the Korea Times.

Have Inmates Taken Control of Asylum?
(1) The North Korean leadership is crazy!
(2) If the Seoul government does not now grasp the foolishness of continuing to pursue its Sunshine Policy with North Korea, the South Korean leadership is crazy!
(3) If Pyongyang conducted the missile firing in the face of Chinas advice not to, the Chinese leadership is crazy if it does not reign in the North Koreans!
(4) If Moscow does not yet see the evolving threat to its future security posed by an unbridled Pyongyang, the Russian leadership is crazy!
By James Zumwalt, Korea Times (August 1, 2006)

I suspect that the Uri party, rhetoric aside, really doesn't give a rat's ass about North Koreans but is so afraid of potential instability in the North that it's willing to do anything to keep the regime afloat for the time being.
