Alright. Unfortunately, the poll option only allows a handful of stuff. So bare with me.

Tough call but had to go with Half Life. When HL came out is was mesmerizing and took gaming to a whole new level. The wonder of HL2 was just as good.

If it wasn't those than I'd say the orginal Deus Ex, which was more like a hybrid than a straight FPS.

The most enjoyment I've ever had from FPS's was the Medal of Honor series. Basic, uncomplicated.

Sci-fi shooters are great too but they tend to dazzle and 'show-off' a bit.

No. Just give me my M1 Carbine and a few dozen Nazi's.

I'm the "other" vote.

The Doom series in general for bringing the whole genre to life.

HL2 for being a revolution of the genre.

Doom blew my mind when it first came out. I'd play it in a dark room and literally jump out of my chair. It will always hold a special place in my list of greatest games of all time, along with classics like Pac-Man and Zork.

I also really loved Medal of Honor when it came out. Finally I could play an FPS that was realistic. No more jumping 20 feet into the air. No more getting shot 100 times without dying.

Deus Ex was the only FPS that could ever sway me to play it again and again and again.

D:EX2 was a major disappointment.
