Has anyone seen that picture of the US soldiers holding a long serpent they found in the Mekong River during the Vietnam War? Now that's a freaky looking animal.

Pravda is kind of Russia's World Weekly News. It's not exactly the newspaper of record. These sea monsters usually, upon genetic testing, turn out to be hunks of long decomposed whales. I don't think anything has ever washed ashore that hasn't been eventually genetically finger printed.

That serpert was found on a Laos stretch of the Mekong Rv. north of the 4000 islands, it's a freaky arrse thing for sure!! It would of been good to catch it though, but I bet that those boys were happy that they were on a Navy river cruiser rather than a little wooden dingy with just a hook and line Wink

The 'Queen of Nagas' myth. It's an oarfish. But a commonly believed to be a monster caught in Lao by US Soldiers in 1973. Apparently it wasn't fished out of the Mekong, it wasn't even caught in Asia.

And according to the article, it wasn't caught at all, but found washed up on the beach.

Still, it being from California and not Laos does not refute the fact that it is a remarkable fish.
