Hey guys,
Has anyone gotten the chance to go home after an extended stay here and when they came back had a hard time. I was able to spend 3 weeks with my family back in N.C and since I've come back I'm sad all the time. I know I'll be going back in 4 months for another extended stay, but it seems too far away.
Korea has been good to me and it's allowed me opportunities I would have never imagined financially, but I can't wait to go home for good. Does anyone else feel the same? To me Korea will never feel like home. |

I've always been really close to my family and when I lived in N.C, we were in Raleigh, we used to go home once per month. I'm also becoming acutely aware of the fact that my parents aren't young anymore, and I want to spend as much time as possible with them. They may live to be 100 but then they may also die tomorrow. |

| I went home for three weeks between contracts and both my boyfriend and I returned thinking we didn't know how we were going to make it a whole 'nuther year. But then the weeks slide by and little milestones come and pass and the time flies. I have got five months left!!! |

| I went back to see my family after my first year here, and by the time my first plane landed in Vancouver I was incredibly homesick and just couldn't wait to get back to Korea... but the fact that my parents live in the epitome of rural Nova Scotia may have had a lot to do with my reluctance. This year I didn't go home in between contracts. |

| I went home for five weeks between contracts. My mother had been quite ill, so she had changed a lot by the time I saw her again. After spending five weeks with her, it was really hard to come back to Korea. My first two weeks back, I was pretty homesick, worried about my mother, and wondering what on earth I was doing back here. After those initial two weeks, though, things started getting better, and I'm really glad to be back again. Hang in there! |

| I have always gone home between contracts ... 2 months, 6 months, and the next one for 2 weeks. I understand what you're saying. I'm thinking this time will be more difficult to leave. But hell, I'm always wishing I was at home with the boys watching the Buds and drinking nice beer. (damn Korean women always tempt be back this way though) |

I'm in the same boat, so I was relieved to see your post. I came back this weekend from a 2-week visit home, and I've been so sad I can barely function. I haven't lived in my hometown in 12 years, but now I am suddenly totally homesick. And I can't figure out why, because I have been quite happy here for the past 6 months.
My colleague mentioned a similar experience of hers last year, and she assured me I'll be up and running in a couple of weeks. I really hope so, because I love my job and like Korea, but now I'm really wishing I hadn't gone home to visit. |
