Would I be wrong in generalizing that daejeon is similar to daegu in terms of 'extra curricular' activities, cost of living etc?

Yes, I think that is probably a safe generalization. However, Daegu is notably hotter in the summer than Daejon.

As far as 'extracurricular activities'.. almost everywhere in Korea is setup quite similar anyways.

I hear there's a lot less going on in Daejeon, but at least it's closer to Seoul.

Daejeon is a great place to live. Since they built Subway, it very easy to get around. There is a western style mall, lots of quality gyms, and is a great place to do hiking. There is TGIF, VIPS, Outback, COSTCO, and Walmart. There are not many events here, but I usually take a bus or KTX to Seoul.
I have been here for 3 years. You can live in a very luxurious apartment for pretty cheap. There are new parts of Daejeon being created everyday. It gets boring at times, especially if you don't drink. I have only been to Daegu once, but didn't get a good impression.

Why the inverted commas? Is extra curricular activities a euphemism for prostituition?
