I really want to go to Thailand with my friends but it seems that all flights are booked and some have many others on waiting lists???

Are there any other good/not booked beachy destinations in Asia that wouldn't cost more than 500 k to get tickets...

on the current list is:
Phillipines
Bali
KL
Guam

also other sites in English would be great

cheers
kg Cool Wink

Go to http://www.asiana.co.kr/english/ and click on "Hot Sale on International Flights"

Some examples:

276,000 return to Weihai (China)
300,000 return to Fukuoka (Japan)
320,000 return to Taipei (Taiwan)
340,000 return to Hong Kong
400,000 return to Tokyo (Japan)
440,000 return to Singapore
494,000 return to Beijing (China)

OR

Go to www.koreanair.com and click on "e-Last Minute Sale"

Some examples:

250,000 return to Qingdao (China)
320,000 return to Shanghai (China)
320,000 return to Oita (Japan)
400,000 return to Penang (Malaysia)
460,000 return to Kuala Lumpir (Malaysia)

You need a credit card and to know your exact dates obviously.

but... last minutes sales for chuesok won't happen for at least another month!

I'm wondering this too actually... I was hoping to go on a scuba diving vacation in Thailand but alas, i have no way to get there. Had no idea tickets would book up beyond belief so quickly here or I would have done this sooner Sad

Any other good diving locales that wouldn't be too expensive?

If you can find some way to get to Singapore or Hong Kong cheaply instead, use that as your base for getting to Thailand. A flight from Singapore to Bangkok on Air Asia is about US$60.00 each way.

stay in seoul for chuseok ... trust me ... you'll never see seoul streets more quiet.

beats the hell out of paying overinflated prices for flights to thailand ... which are gonna be full of korean tour busses.

Tiger - as far as Russia goes:

www.uzbekair.co.kr *seems* quite good value at the moment with fares of 650,000 from Korea to the CIS and 700,000 to places like Athens/Istanbul/Bishkek/Riga/Moscow (all via a transit stop in Tashkent).

I also saw an advertisement for Vladivostok Air in the Korea Herald last week for 550,000 to Irkutsk, Yakutsk and a range of other Russian cities.

For Europe generally, www.airfrance.co.kr are also advertising fairly low fares to Paris/Europe for 890,000 return which seems ok (you would spend just as much going to Thailand or SE asia anyway).
