HI
Ive been told that while you wait for the Immigration Office to issue you with the reference number/certificate for your VISA run, you can actually start teaching.
IS this true? Both the school and I want to start, and just take a day off to do the VISA run when the Korean Immigration Office give us the go ahead.
I assume that if we are waiting for them, they are guarenteed not to check over the school for illegal teachers.
what do you think?

It is illegal and there is NO grace period. It is currently only taking 4 days to process your visa confirmation so wait.
As a side note, it takes 2 working days in Japan to process the visa now.
Drop your application and passport before 4pm and pickup next day after 2pm.
SAME DAY visa runs are NOT possible. |

There is no guarentee whatsoever. It is illegal to work without the E-2 visa. And a lot of schools will string you along for several months promising to get the E-2 visa. The reason for this is that they want to see how you perform in the classroom. If they don't like you they can fire you without a dime. And there is nothing you can do about it since you were working illegally. |

Are you working for GNB Pusan? They said the same thing to my friend three weeks ago. They put in his paperwork, and the same afternoon he was busted for teaching ILLEGALLY.
He was fined, deported and black listed. |
