What should I see with 2 nights/2 days of time.
I'm thinking of Pudu Hostel/Hotel.. it seems to be good location-wise.. anyone stay there as well? |

I've stayed there a few times. It's not the cheapest but they have a decent lounge area and the rooms and beds are clean. Location is good too. It's just a couple of minutes walk to the Chinatown night markets. Not a bad choice.
Going to bars and stuff is usually expensive as hell in KL (relative to the cost of other things) so try and find a place with happy hour if you wanna go out for a drink. Chinatown isn't great for the bar scene. Pretty shady place, IMO. |

| Where are the better places to go bar-hopping? I really want to take in as much of the nightlife as I possibly can while there. |

Bukit Bintang area is not so shabby.
You know, if I was staying there just for a couple of nights and you're gonna be hitting the bars at nights, I'd go for a nice hotel room  Pick up a very plush room for about US$70-80. |

Update.
Kaula Lumpur.. ahh.. clove-scented streets.
Saw Batu Caves, Petrona Towers, etc. A good all-around city. Incredible food here, etc.
Pudu Hostel. Yes, the location is quite good. Also a great feel to the hostel. Strangely they have burritos as well (which I haven't tried yet). TV, meals, beer, pool table, couches to lounge around on, etc.
The rooms aren't that great.. noisy and loud. Just the basic amenities.
KL is an interesting city. |

Have to agree, yes its one of the most expensive cities in SE Asia(probably only beaten by Singapore) but it has a great mix of cultures thus mix of foods. Also it has loads of green space, modern and old buildings, all up if a good job came up its the only place in SE Asia id consider living in long term |

I stayed at the Mandarin Oriental downtown, and I had originally planned on the Ritz. It's within walking distance from that building that used to be the world's tallest, or still is, can't remember... My co-worker has stayed in a lot of posh hotels, and he recommended the Mandarin Oriental. OMG, it was amazing. They had an ENORMOUS breakfast buffet that was really nice, too (best I've ever seen/had, actually). Anyway, MO is about the same price at the Ritz, so you might want to check it out. There are clubs nearby, as well, if you're into clubs... |

I second that about the clubs around Petrona Towers.. thats a great area to be.
Plus quite a bit of shopping and everything else if people are into that.
I really like what I see here in Kuala Lumpur. This place definetely warrants a return trip.
This city seems almost equal Indian, equal muslim and equal chinese. A real interesting diversity and mix of everything. Intoxicating place.
Love that scent of cloves wafting around through the air as well. |

I'm going to KL next month for approx. 4 days. What did you think of Batu Caves? Did you go to Kuala Selangor Nature Park to see the fire flies...it sounds kind of interesting? I'm wondering if it's worth my time?
I'm going to be on Peninsular Malaysia for 2 weeks...it's my first trip there. If anyone has any recommendations for must sees that would be great. So far, I've planned to go to KL, Melaka, Cameron Highlands and Perhentian Besur.

I was there a few years ago. Looks like you've got a good plan but that's a lot of land to cover in only four days. The Perhentians are a long way from KL, as are the Cameron Highlands. Maybe think about two days in KL and two in Melaka. |

I didn't go to the park.. but I did go to Batu Caves. It looks a lot bigger in books. In person, it was still great to see, and wouldn't have missed it, and its close to the city. It just didn't take long to see it all. I also expected a lot of stairs.. and there were 200-and-something.. (284?).. but even that didn't take much to climb. Lots of monkeys around and all the Hindu stuff is cool to look at.. as is the giant statute next to the stairs. |
