There's a lot of good info on links to where to study Korean in the FAQ's, but I was wondering if I could get personal recommendations on how or where to study. I've studied Korean in the US for about 2 years, but nothing more then a hobby. I'm in Korea for my second year and I'm ready to do some serious studying. I'm really considering going to Yonsei Univ. for their 10 week sessions. I'm not looking for useful phrases or quick ways to learn. My plans to stay in Korea are open and maybe long term. So studying Korean will be a life long process for me. Please let me know your recommendations on which Universities or Hakwons you think are good for a serious learner. Also any learning strategies or supplementary items such as books, tapes, videos, whatever. Thanks.

I'm not sure of your level, but I just got Rosetta Stone's program. It's very good.

What's this ten week program you're speaking of? What's it cost, etc.?

There's no better recommendation than taking three months off between contracts, cutting contact with all your English friends and just living in a goshiwon or hasuk somewhere the entire time. You need that time completely cut off from everybody else to get over the intermediate level.

I have experience from both Yonsei and a private hagwon. For me, the hagwon is far better value for money. Its about 500 000 less than Yonsei and the other Unis, more teachers, and best of all, almost noone to speak English with, as most the other students are Japanese. Yonsei is infested with North Americans who babble on to you in English. Much better to be forced into speaking Korean with people who speak no English.

One other thing I forgot to point out is that I was told to try to get into the B class because of the annoying native English speakers in the A class.
