Can't say that there's a lot to do in Kwangju but I found that it's nicer if you are able to get out and about with people that you work with. Do you work with other foreigners or not? There is a GIC committee in the city and they sometimes have tours ad stuff. There was one this past weekend that went water rafting. Not too sure when there will be another one but they happen about every month. Don't get too down because that's no good. Also, a good weekend trip to Seoul (once you get paid) never hurt anyone!!! Razz

The GIC is located downtown in Gwangju. They have an office above the Korean Exchange Bank (if I'm not mistaken). They have a monthly newsletter that comes out and tells of things that are happening in the city. It's available at many places (like the bus terminal info desks, the airport, blue monkey, mad season, blue travel, etc.) It's great because they take foreigners places they might not otherwise go. What area of town are you in? I know that there aren't a lot of foreigners in Kwangju compared to other cities but maybe someone reading this might be in your area if you post it.

There are korean language classes available sometimes too. Depending on the hours that you work, you might be able to take up some taekwondo or something like that. Good luck!

i didnt really have a clue where it was until i got here, its like 4 hours south of incheon airport, its a city of around 1.5 mill i think, i came here because i have some korean buddys who i met back home (nz) from here, and i travelled with a korean fella in aussie who is from gwang ju, so i just came over without a job or anything and my buddy hooked me up. but in some ways i wish i had of gone to seoul as im sure theres a lot more seedy late night action for me to revel in. im from dunedin by the way blue flower, where abouts in nz do you hail from?

For the record, BF is refering to her home, which is certainly beautiful.

Those are NOT pictures of Kwangju..!

Just so we're sure, Kwangju looks like this:

And usually it looks worse.
