My GF and I took a little Han river boat from the Yeouido terminal. There were all kinds of tickets but one was this hour long round trip cruise. Alright. Sounded interesting. But it wasn't. It kind of sails to the line 4 bridge. Turns around. Goes back past everything you just saw. Gets as far as the National Assembly building and then goes back and docks. In English they point out some bridges. "If you look close this bridge still has a bullet hole from the Korean War."

The best part is where the tour announcer directs you to a place where nothing remains. The line went something like .... "on your left is the site of the former Mapo boat terminal. It used to be a where boats loaded with salt would unload their cargo. For a time, these boats loaded with salt were one of the top 8 sights in Mapo."

Boats loaded with salt in the top 8? Well, that must have been the happein' place. And why 8? Why not top 10? And if a boat loaded with salt could be in the top 8, what are 1-7? The dog tannery, the rock that looks like a sitting halmonee, the world's largest baduk board, Korea's first two story Hof...

I went on that cruise on August fifteenth (the Liberation Day), and I have to say I enjoyed it. While they did play tinny and annoying music on the loudspeakers, I didn't hear anyone talking over the PA system, which was a relief. It was cool on the water, which was a nice break from the sauna-like conditions in the rest of Seoul, and I got some good pictures of the Sixty Three building.
