How come I can buy cream cheese at E mart but they don't sell bagels? What is everyone else doing with it?

There are some Great Canadian Bagel Cafes in Seoul where you can buy yummy bagels. Also, you can make no bake cheese cake with graham crackers, spread it on crackers, bread, or make a shrimp or veggie cream cheese ball for a tasty treat when you're having guests. Gee, I feel like Martha Stewart. Rolling Eyes

Cheers,

I make cheese cake. Just don't call it that if you want a Korean who has never tasted cheese cake to taste it.

In fact as with most wesern food call it something else until after they taste it. The less preconceptions most koreans have going into tasting something different the better.

By the way that is a refridgerated cheese cake not a baked cheese cake. I don't miss my oven I miss being able to buy the ingredients to use it.

BTW: I found some campbells chowder soup or whatever someone was after but I can't remember who the poster was.

You can put it on bagels from Costco..if you get a membership. 12 bagels for 5,500 won...plus the 30,000 won membership per year....

Hey SweetBear...

There is always putting it on toast (I know it's not the same!)

Also, if you are not in a really small town, try looking at Paris Baguette sometime. When I was in Mokpo last year, they had JUST started to sell bagels before I left (mainly onion ones so be warned if you want to eat strawberry cream cheese) and in Gwangju they SOMETIMES have bagels at their Paris Baguettes. I've only had onion and plain....oh I KNOW they could make sesame bagels sometime...when they do, I am first in line!

Thanks, I'll check out Paris Baguette. I miss sour cream too. Know I can get it in Seoul but that's a long way from me. Any other inspirations on cooking giving our limited choices? Can't take Bi bim bap no more !

Tuna- if you eat it. Is a very versatile food. Pasta salad, potato salad, veggie salad, (oil and vinegar dressing olive oil is readily available, so is some nice lemon vinegar or Red wine vinegar if you live near a Carrefour)
Spaghetti, those semi-frozen meatballs in the refridgerators are nice if you spice up a tomato sauce.

Korean food- cho bap is king in the summer, so ba, kong gug su,--- I love cold noodles though- sam gae tang is nice- mul nang myun.

www.recipes.com is a great site-

simply food, but tasty in the summer.

enjoy

who is not looking forward to Korean food 3 times a day for the next 5 weeks-

Also a coffee shop, surely it must be a chain, at the Chongno-3-ga station. Take the exit that's catty-corner to the #3. Or go out the #3 and cross the street twice. Haven't tried them yet, but they have bagels.
