You've probably seen the trailers or posters. A massive earth quake triggers the complete sinking of Japan into the ocean. If they had just opened this movie on Liberation Day, it could have been the highest grossing Japanese movie ever in Korean history. I'm sure it will still do pretty well, and will definitely be talked about for a long time to come.

Phew!!

Thank God you clarified that! I saw the trailer on the big-screen outside CO-EX today and thought it was a Korean movie!! I groaned then. I'm relieved Koreans didn't make it now.

Who came up with the film's godawful English title, Japan Down?

This movie is going to be hilariously big in Korea.

I'm guessing it was made in an attempt to guilt the other Asian countries until realising they're better off with Japan.

That's a good theory. My guess though is that it's a remake of a 1973 novel and movie created to make some money and excite moviegoers.

No, no. Only Hollywood does that.

It looks like the lamest movie of recent times (and certainly the lamest since The Day After Tomorrow). The apocalyptic background music in the trailer is beyond stupid, as is the whole premise of the movie.
