Hey guys

I'm new to the forum and have been seriously looking for a job in Seoul. I have been offered a job in Mokdong. How is the Mokdong area? Will I be bored or will it be easy to be right in the middle of things? Also, anyone know about the CANOREA recruitment firm and the jobs they place you in?

Thanks

Mokdong is in the Western part of Seoul, South of the river. It's a newly re-developed area, done in the spirit of Kangnam. Some parts of Mokdong are really attractive because there are areas with streets where no cars are aloud, just pedestrian traffic. There are lots of trees too.

a friend of mine lived in mokdong and he thought of his area as one of the slummiest places he'd seen in seoul.

of course, the same could be said for parts of apkujeong.

mokdong is a quick hop over the river to the hongdae area, which is a plus if you like to get retarded and get drunk as hell. everything else, i found it very remote when i visted.

the han river is nearby, however, and you can bike along it.

I live in the neighborhood adjacent to Mokdong. I'll say this: I love Mokdong. It's a wonderful area. There is a vibrant shopping district, with many clothing stores and restaurants (and Subway!). There's another area that's set up like an American city. That means the roads are wide, and the buildings aren't so cluttered. Nice sidewalks, trees, etc. There's at least one park I know of which is wonderful. Really, I wish I lived there instead of where I am.

I lived in a crappy part of Mokdong. It really depends on the school as to what area you'll get. Care to post the name?

I lived around there for my first 4 years here...it's a nice area...and not a bad local - pretty quick to get around to the rest of Seoul...

It's pretty close to all the party spots in Hondae and Itaewon, if that's what you mean. Try to get housing near a subway stop or make sure you have a convenient bus route...sometimes the bus is faster and more pleasant (except at night...too crowded).

Sorry about that mispelling, Mr. Superfly.
Though I must say, those homophones trip me up from time to time.
