Anybody any experience with this school? and the recruiter BCM?
I have 5 years experience teaching in eastern europe - albeit mostly adult one to one, CELTA and a BA. Can I do better at this late date? They are oiffering 2.2 million and I questioned that, said it should be 2.3 and she said that 2.3 is for teaching kindie because it's harder, or teaching in rural areas.
Hmmm? It's a 2 room apartment in a complex. What are those complexes like? Also she says bus to school, about ten minutes....so that's about a 30 minute walk? Oh yeah, that 300,000 deduction for first 3 months is in the contract, too. I read somewhere to refuse that. But she did say they will provide prepaid ticket. |

So, if I can do much better - how do I do that? I don't think my lungs could take Seoul. |

Sounds like a typical GEPIK contract.
They don't like to offer level one (2.3 +) until/unless you have verifiable classroom experience or have spent a year or more here.
It will be 2.2 mil for 22 classes per week. 20k won each for any extra classes (so you will probably gross around 2.6. It is a 40 hour workweek (you are in the school from 9-5) but most hakwon monkeys doing their 30 hours per week spend that much time or more in their schools anyway by the time they add in the unpaid extra stuff that they have to do (usually for less money).
You will get 2 weeks for the "standard" holidays + 2 additional weeks if you renew + extra days off when they have exams or other school events + national holidays. Beats the he11 out of the usual hakwon offering.
It is a good way to get your feet wet here in Korea if you are comfortable being an expat in other countries and are reasonably independent and can function without a good support network in a land where you can't read or speak the language.
You will get other perks and bumped up a level if you stay beyond your first year.
A 2 room (unshared) apartment is a nice start. Most teachers only get a single room bachelor/studio type room.
The town is OK. You are about 30 minutes from Suwon (Gyeonggi Provincial Capital) and 1.5-2 hours from Seoul (subway or bus / dependant on traffic and where in Seoul you are headed).
BCM is just a large hakwon chain that has moved into recruiting to increase revenues in a tight market. |

be very wary of Hwaseong....find the schools exact location...Hwaseong is spread over a very large geographical area and you could end up living in a very small village in the middle of nowhere!(I did) |
